WHAT IF Installation
by Leonardo Pierro
The nonsense of the work called "what if", despite its aesthetic banality and the heterogeneity of the connected theories, is to create perplexity in the viewer, calling him to reflect on the scenario of the world economy and the relative impact on the welfare of nations. Walter Benjamin's reflections are useful as a stimulus to rethink the relationship between art and utopia, interpret reality, imagining new worlds and a new vision of the future, the illusion of a thriving society, protected in terms of welfare and economic justice. The writings, applied to expired "Stock Exchange" shares, wittily and with a detournement ironically satirize capitalism forced to beg for help using those tools that generate wealth. The fickleness of money is such that any attempt to place faith in a stable economy requires the help of a renewed united society. The messages and the invitation to donate come from images of poor Americans who describe their desperate situation on cardboard supports.
